Very clean gray cloth boards with red cross and black rifle on cover, black lettering and small decoration on spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages and edges are clean and bright, with small previous owner name neatly penned at top edge of front free endpaper. Translated by Dorothy Carr Howell. Illustrated with drawings by Jo Spier. 248 pages. Dust jacket is clean with very slight browning to spine, not price clipped, a few tiny edge chips and very short closed edge tears. Wonderful photo of Father Bruckberger on rear panel. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Story of one of the most heroic figures of World War II. This priest was a fearless fighter in the French Commandos, then Chaplain General of the Resistance groups. It was he who received General de Gaulle amid enemy gunfire in the Cathedral of Notre Dame when France was liberated from the Nazis.
