First Edition/First Printing. 16 pages. Artist Book. The 28th title in the now-legendary "One Picture Book" Series by Nazraeli Press, one of the most superb ongoing projects of contemporary art photography. Limited Edition of 500 numbered and signed copies. Accompanied by one tipped-in, original print by the artist/photographer (hence the Series' name). An elegant production by Chris Pichler: Small-size volume format. Titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Martin Parr. Printed on pristine-white, archival stock paper to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Martin Parr's "7 Colonial Still Lifes". The photographer's companion volume to his immensely successful "7 Communist Still Lifes", one of the best titles in the One-Picture Book Series. "Martin Parr's second contribution takes us to Colombo, Kandy, and Newara Eliya, Sri Lanka. This colorful little book shows some of the lighter sides of colonialism-gone-awry" (Publisher's blurb). The color print was utilized by the New Yorker Magazine as the accompanying image to a short story by the British writer Tessa Hadley, one of the finest writers of our time. Parr is an ironist/satirist whose oblique, indirect, and witty approach leaves a strong aftertaste. An absolute "must-have" title for Martin Parr collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition, indicated/numbered as such in pen on the Back Limitation Page. It comes with an original color print that is very prominently and beautifully signed in black ink-pen on verso by Martin Parr. This title is a contemporary art photography classic. This is one of few copies of the Limited Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. Please note: The remaining copies from the publisher command $150. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A scarce signed copy thus. 6 color plates, 1 original print. The most important and most influential British photographer of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER ONE PICTURE BOOK AND MARTIN PARR TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). ISBN 1590051335.
