The text is illustrated with copious colour and black-and-white photographs, colour and black-and-white illustrations and maps. Brown faux leather ornately decorated covers with a picture showing part reproduction of Charles Schreybogels' painting "Protecting the Emigrants", which has been pasted on post prduction. Gilt titles to the backstrip along with four raised bands to the top edge and lower edge of the backstrip. A history of soldiers of the American West. Of the Indian wars, forts, personalities and battles won and lost. Part of The Old West series. Size: 4to 9¾" - 12" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
