Raised bands to spine bordered in gilt, gilt lettering and decoration. 132 x 23 cm. 4 pages of Family Register: Children's Names and Marriages infilled on one line and dated 1876 and 1912. Coloured map to frontis. Some occasional foxing throughout. Edges slightly rubbed otherwise a very good copy of this very heavy book.

Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott & Company. Good+. 1866. Hardcover. There is a half inch crack at base of spine, the fore-corners are worn, there is some loss of top-grain but it does not effect the tooled areas, a sound attractive binding. ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; Light brown leather ornately gilt tooled, all edges gilt. **Hills #1797, containing the Apocrypha. Hills calls for a black and white frontispiece while this copy has a color frontispiece and title page (lithographed by T. Sinclair, Phila., and this copy has a black and white frontispiece for the New Testament which Hills says is not there. The base of spine has the Bagster imprint, also not mentioned by Hills. **The family records start with the marriage of Henry Harlow and Mary K. Partridge, June 7, 1866. There are two 4 page ALS from Vienna, Va. , dated July 20, 1919, regarding "members of the family of Henry Harlow." .

Roy. 8vo., text in double column with marginal references, wanting one blank preliminary; handsomely bound in full niger pebble-grain calf, sides with multiple frame border in blind, bevelled boards, back with raised bands, second compartment lettered in gilt (very slightly faded), gilt edges, gilt doublures, chocolate endpapers, a remarkably bright, crisp, clean copy in wholly unrestored publisher's binding. A beautiful, huge Holy Bible published in London in the 19th-century. Ornate family Bibles were quite popular in the second half of the 1800s, and this tome is a fine example of enormous, folio family Bibles. This particular Bible contains commentaries from John Stoughton.

London: Printed for Thomas Tegg & Son, 1844. Complete in 6 volumes. Books measure 11 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Circa 5,500 pages, illustrated. Bound in full period black crushed moracco, raised bands, gilt tooling, blind rulled lines, full gilt edges, marble endpapers. Calf very slightly faded, very minor marking. All bindings in excellent condition. Internally, previous owners bookplate, spotting to titles and frontispieces, very occasional minor spotting or browning. Pages and plates in very good clean condition. A near fine set, in very attractive period bindings. . Full Period Morocco. Very Good Plus. Quarto.

The Cole title is bound before the general title to the Bible and 204 plates on 51 leaves are inserted in the appropriate places through the biblical text. Later black calf binding, the boards panelled with gilt rolls and corner tools. The spine with raised bands and gilt pallets. Rubbed on the edges and corners and an old damp mark at the top of the rear board, not visible on the text leaves. Marbled endpapers. Occasional headlines or catchwords trimmed by the binder. The paper shows spotting or toning as the sheets vary through the volume. There is a specially printed presentation leaf bound before the Common Prayer 'The GIFT of Mr. James Hudson,to His Godson JAMES CRISP.April 16.
