He examines the domestic requirements in each period, and how the design of new houses changed to meet them. He also describes contemporary methods of modernizing and enlarging old houses. A Foreword, six chapters, postscript, glossary and index provided. A generous list of b/w full-page plates (24) is given....all on heavier semi-gloss stock as well as a list of diagrams (17 total).
