Paris: Andre Sauret, 1965. Deluxe illustrated Sauret edition of the works of Guillaume Apollinaire. Quartos, 5 volumes, bound in full black pebbled morocco with gilt titles and tooling to the spine and front panel, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers, illustrated with colored engravings. Limited edition, one of 95 sets produced, this is number 88. Each volume housed in the original custom marbled slipcase. In near fine condition. French poet, novelist, and art critic Guillaume Apollinaire is considered one of the foremost poets of the early 20th century, as well as a forefather of Surrealism. In addition to coining term "cubism" he authored one of the earliest Surrealist literary works, the play The Breasts of Tiresias (1917), which became the basis for the 1947 opera Les mamelles de Tiresias.
