Many illustrations. Good plus, spine lettering faded away; hinges secure and unbroken; no owner marks; no dj. .

Dark blue cloth with gilt titling and decoration, good with light to moderate edgewear including frayed spine ends and fore-edge corners; gilt at front panel rubbed, clear though a little dulled; gilt at spine has faded to be almost illegible. Binding repaired with fresh endsheets. Pages lightly toned, text unmarked.

Hinges quite shaken, but pages still well enough attached for normal handling. Light dampstaining and occasional blemishes inside, besides the usual library markings. A good reading copy. Contains many black and white plates.
