1786. [ROMILLY, Samuel and FRANKLIN, Benjamin]. Observations on a Late Publication, Intituled, Thoughts on Executive Justice: To Which Is Added, a Letter Containing Remarks on the Same Work. London: T. Cadell and R. Faulder, 1786. 1st ed. 162 pp. Contemporary calf, front cover gilt with Thomas Hollis owl-tool, Rubbed, hinges repaired, else a very good copy. Ford 378. Presentation inscription on 1/2-title, "Aug. 29, 1786, From the auth." The recipient of this book was the Rev. John Disney, who inherited the library of Thomas Hollis. Romilly's Observations were written in response to Dr. Madan's thoughts on Executive Justice, the first book in his long and distinguished career. The appended "Letter from a Gentlemen Abroad," which occupies the final 22 pages of text, was written by Franklin.
