Book has expected attributes of a library book, including tapemarks inside covers, removed pocket, few stamps, but no spine label. Internally tight, clean; dj is absent but flaps with author/artist bios and blurb are pasted to rear endpapers. A little known Astrid Lindgren book, one of more than half a dozen she wrote for this series. As one would expect from Lindgren, the story transcends the foreign-children genre: Noy wanders away from her father in the big city, a universally child-like dilemma, and the book reflects her lively and curious spirit. The photography, too, is utterly remarkable. It seems totally unposed and thoroughly natural.
