Carey & Lea, 1838. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. These are the FIRST U.S. collected editions of Austen's novels. 2 vols, from print run of 1500 copies. Issued separately by Carey & Lea (later Carey, Lea, & Blanchard). Very good with shelfwear, rubbing on covers, and fading/spotting on boards. Several ink spots on vol. 1, slight water damage and foxing between pastedown and endpapers. Light water damage at bottom of back pages of vol. 1. Previous owner's writing on pastedowns of vol. 2, some foxing and brown spots on pastedown and endpapers of vol. 2. Housed in brown clamshell case.
