Cities and towns are labeled as are counties and territories with borders depicted. Rivers and fjords are also noted throughout and the waters of the Norwegian Sea and the North Sea are carefully rendered. The larger portion of Norway, from the North Sea to Leka is shown as a large map with the continuation northwards depicted in an inset in the top left. Scale in Norse miles and English miles. Maps from the 19th century that exclusively feature Norway are usually hard to find as Norway and Sweden were almost always grouped together in maps from this period, making this a scarce find.<br> <br> This map by Walker & Boutall was issued as part of "The stories of the kings of Norway called the Round world (Heimskringla)". Originally written in the early 13th century by Snorri Sturluson, the book was edited from the Icelandic by William Morris and Eirikr Magnusson and published in 1893 by Bernard Quaritch. The map is in good condition with some wear along the original folds and minor foxing. Map is flattened and lined with archival tissue for stability.<br/> <br/>
