Gulf of Alaska: S.S. Northwestern, 1914. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good. (6)pp; photo of the S.S. Northwestern on front. Includes names of the officers and crew, a passenger list, tips for travelers, news from the War front and homefront, etc.
The ship's position at noon on August 31 was "In Gulf of Alaska near Cape St. Elias and 1257 miles from Seattle....Should pass Cape Spencer about 9 A.M., September 1st. Will enter Icy Straits at 9:30 A.M., and pass Muir Inlet (Muir Glacier) about 11 A.M., then through Chatham Straits, Lynn Canal and Chilcoot Inlet and should arrive in Skagway about 4 P.M...." Lists the 12 passengers, plus two in steerage. Includes ads for Skagway traders. [The S.S. Northwestern was built in 1889 at Chester, PA. She was sunk by the Japanese during World War II.] [Unrecorded by OCLC.]
