Gulf of Alaska: S.S. Northwestern, 1914. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good. (6)pp; photo of the S.S. Northwestern on front. Includes names of the officers and crew, a passenger list, tips for travelers, news from the War front and homefront, etc. The ship's position at noon on September 4 was "in Queen Charlotte near Egg Island and 339 miles to Seattle....Will pass the S.S. Dolphin about ten o'clock this A.M. The Dolphin steamed from Katchikan two hours ahead of the Northwestern." Lists the 15 passengers. Includes ads for Valdez and Skagway traders, etc. Also, news of British forces landing at Abbeville, France, pushing upriver to Rheims and cutting off the Germans from reaching Paris, etc. [The S.S. Northwestern was built in 1889 at Chester, PA. She was torpedoed and sunk by the Japanese during World War II.] [Unrecorded by OCLC.].
