Because of its geographical position Northumberland is one of the least known of all English counties. It has only one large city, and vast expanses of open country, panoramic views and scenes of infinite variety. In this book the author has tried to express how beautiful it is. She has included material representative of the whole county and of the many places between Tyne and Tweed. History and legend, folk songs and dialect, all have their place in Northumbrian Heritage.
