About This Item

[New York]: Norman Seaman / Carnegie Hall, no year. leaflet. Leaflet, standard sheet (11x8.5 inches) of semi-alkaline white paperstock, banner professionally typeset with detail reproduced from typewritten mss, folded twice into quarters but now flattened out, faintest toning, slight edgewear, a very good copy. A program, voiced by Douglas, of nineteenth century solos (mostly German classical, but also Scottish folksong) and 19th and 20th C poems by women: Dickinson, Wylie, Rukeyser, Gertrude Stein, Marianne Moore. Our vocalist was of course, Richard Nixon's politically liberal rival in the mid-1940s, whom he labelled "The Pink Lady." The item in hand could either preceed or follow her entry into politics.
