About This Item
New York: American Tract Society, 1850. Early American edition. Hardcover. History of the first 50 years of British missions in Tahiti.
16mo, 236pp, 2 pages (advertisements). Abridged from the 1838 London Ed. Beautiful aqua colored covers, gold gilt title and decoration on spine and blind decorations on front and back boards. Past owner has made a number of pencil markings under passages that have either delighted or offended the reader. This is not distracting and indeed interesting as to what a person of the time thought of Tahitian society. O'Reilly, p.673.
