About This Item

Stated First Edition/First Printing with the "S52" code on p. 336; A Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket with only one small chip at the spine head, else in as new and unread condition. SIGNED and inscribed by King to the front free paper with a lengthy inscription including a reference to the Mohonk Mountain house in upstate New York, a place King and his family have been known to visit and rumored to be the "real" location of the Overlook hotel in "The Shining". An absolutely gorgeous copy of King's first collection of stories, many of which have been adapted to the screen; very rare in this condition, positively scarce signed by King; a unique item that is greatly enhanced by SK's awesome inscription. A bucket list item for the King collector. Not remaindered, not price clipped, not ex-library; in a protective Mylar cover and will ship carefully packaged, Priority mail free, in a sturdy box.
"Stephen King has brought together nineteen of his most unsettling short pieces – bizarre tales of dark doings and unthinkable acts from the twilight regions where horror and madness take on eerie, unearthly forms . . . where noises in the walls and shadows by the bed are always signs of something dreadful on the prowl."

Stephen King is the author of more than fifty books, all of them worldwide bestsellers. Among his most recent are Full Dark, No Stars; Under the Dome; Just After Sunset; Duma Key; Lisey’s Story; Cell; and the concluding novels in the Dark Tower saga: Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, and The Dark Tower. His acclaimed nonfiction book On Writing is also a bestseller. In 2003, he was awarded the National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, and in 2007 he received the Grand Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America. He lives in Maine with his wife, novelist Tabitha King.
