Illustrated endpapers, both different, front end paper showing part reproduction of The Western Daily Mercury , July 12, 1861, rear end paper: -- showing part reproduction of Newcastle Journal, May 7, 1945. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece, showing a "Newsboy of the Ninties" [1890s]. The text is illustrated with the occasional small black-and-white engravings throughout the text. Tan coloured boards with gilt titles to the backstrip. A little rubbing to the book corners and bumping to the lower backstrip edge. Colour photographic dustwrapper, with brown and yellow titles to the front panel and yellow titles to the backstrip. A little rubbing to the dustwrapper edges. Black-and-white photograph of author to the rear bowled over panel. A look at English country newspapers from 1851 through to 1950. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
