He is known for his satirical works, particularly Vanity Fair, a panoramic portrait of English society.<br/><br/>Thackeray's later works include Pendennis, which depicts the coming of age of Arthur Pendennis, an alter ego of Thackeray. Arthur Pendennis also serves as the narrator of two later novels, THE NEWCOMES, and The Adventures of Philip. <br/><br/>Edward Ardizzone, CBE RA (1900 - 1979), was an English painter, print-maker and war artist, and the author and illustrator of books, many of them for children.<br/><br/>A handsome, clean, and tight copy that is filled with appealing illustrations by Edward Ardizzone.
