It is the result of 20 years of work by the author, and is not part of them, offering a wide and conflicting range of views of Kelly's life and deeds. Was he a spectacular and hardened criminal, or a symbol of rebellion from repression, the embodiment of the Australian ideal of the open boat fearless, the free, and the bold"? – Dust jacket blurb Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with rubbing of the top book corners and lower book edges. Some age toning of text block edges. The text has been printed in a brown coloured ink. Minor creasing of the dustwrapper edges and rubbing the panels. There is a transverse tear, halfway down the dustwrapper, front panel, measuring 2", which a previous owner has placed some black coloured tape to support it – tape still in situ. this is the first edition by this publisher.
