About 25 percent of the books relate to the Civil War and the Confederacy. Many others deal with history, especially southern history, and biography. There are 28 descriptions of Neale books on slavery/Negroes; 75 on poetry, including 17 Civil War poetry; 29 on Civil War fiction; 15 on Reconstruction; 32 on historical fiction (non-Civil War); etc. Illustrated with many title-page facsimiles. An 18-page introduction gives historical background on Neale, including details of his friendship with Ambrose Bierce. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines.
