H. Davies (1871 - 1940) was a Welsh poet and writer. Davies spent a significant part of his life as a tramp or hobo, in the United Kingdom and United States, but became one of the most popular poets of his time.

The principal themes in his work are observations about life's hardships, the ways in which the human condition is reflected in nature, his own tramping adventures and the various characters he met. One might characterize Davies as an atypical Georgian Poet. His famous book The Autobiography of a Super-Tramp (1908) about his adventurous life as a drifter in the United States from 1893 to 1899 made his reputation. Among other adventures, he lost his left foot when it was crushed by the wheels of a train!--Wiki condensed

VERY SCARCE thus SIGNED & in such superior condition for a fragile, smaller book. Slight bumping to spine extremities and corners, else FINE.

Sylvia Harlow, W.H. Davies: A Bibliography, A4, pp.29-30.
