London, Chatto & Windus, 1893 1st (Hand-Made Paper Edition). Hardback, approx 7.5 x 5 inches. Brown cloth, beveled boards, gilt lettering to spine. Top page edges gilt. Plain endpapers. In very good condition. Darkening to spine and board edges, some minor fading to boards. Thin chip/nick to top end of spine. Some minor darkening to endpapers. Binders stamp, “Southeran, Sackville St. London,” to front endpaper. Page edges rough cut, but inside all pages clean and tight throughout. 242pp. + 1pp cat. Jefferies deals here mainly with the countryside near his new home. This collection contains exiting and detailed descriptions of his nature rambles in the Surbiton area and also essays about Sussex.
