Clean black and rose red cloth boards with silver lettering and small snaffle bit on cover and spine. Very narrow line of fading at top spine edge (1/16"), no bumping or fraying. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Clean illustrated endpapers - no names, writing or marks. Illustrated with drawings by Laurian Jones (the author's daughter who was 13 years old). 303 pages + "Author's Note". Clean jacket has some fading to red background portion of spine, edge wear and small corner chips, one 2-1/4" closed tear along front spine fold; not price clipped (2.50 on front inside flap); nice photo of author along with brief bio and review of the book on rear panel.
