Description:
Erin, On: The Boston Mills Press. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. pp: 160. SIGNED FIRST EDITION. A history of the railway and the effects the line had on the towns and villages through which it passed. The line was the first public narrow-gauge railway in North America. It led from Toronto northeast to Coboconk and, eventually, to Lindsay, running through Markham, Stouffville, Uxbridge, Sunderland, and Cannington. The line opened in Uxbridge in 1871. This was the last town on the line that paid their way. There was increasingly less interest in as the line moved north. The station in Uxbridge still exists (partly damaged by the 2022 tornado). It is one of the few still standing. This is a near fine copy signed by the author on the title page. The jacket is now protected with a Brodart cover.
