About This Item
Macmillan & Company, London, 1980. First Edition. Hardcover. Berry/Good. Tan coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper (not credited to the artist), with black and red coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the backstrip. The Cowra breakout, provides the centrepiece for the superb new adventure novel. Two men from different backgrounds and cultures are the central characters in the book and through them the author gives the reader a deeper understanding of the nature of revenge and an incisively sympathetic picture of the Japanese mind and its obsession with death and honour. Minor bumping to the lower backstrip edge and rubbing to the book corners. Dust marks to the top text block edge and light browning to all edges. There is a crease that runs three quarters the length of the free front end paper, from the bottom edge. Rubbing and creasing to the top and bottom dustwrapper edges. Sun fading, splotchy, to the backstrip and to the top rear edge of the back panel. Clipping of the dustwrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. This is the first UK edition.
