The reminder of his youngest brother & her uncle Captain Sanford ". Captain Sandford is mentioned many times including a description of the action when he was killed. He is described by the author as ' my friend and comrade' and 'one of the most gallant gentlemen that ever buckled on a sword-belt'. He had taken over command of a detachment the 5th Punjab Cavalry from Younghusband and was killed in an assault near Lucknow on 10th March 1858. An unusual Association copy of this scarce title. One of an edition of five hundred copies (of which the first twelve were to be signed by Duncan).
