About This Item

New York London: W. W. Norton & Company, 2001. Later printing. Cloth and boards. Very Fine/Very Fine. Peter de Sève. 8vo, light brown-gray quarter cloth with gold lettering on spine over light yellow boards with "Mark Twain" signature embossed in gold, Foreword and Afterword by Roy Blount Jr., archival mylar-protected humorous pictorial dust jacket (unclipped) by noted caricaturist Peter de Sève who has created the colorful (watercolor) frontispiece and 5 other full-page glossy illustrations, brownish endpapers, 112 pages. "A Murder, a Mystery, and a Marriage" is an amusing short story written by Mark Twain in 1876. It was published in a very small, unauthorized edition in 1945, with an authorized engaging edition illustrated by cartoon/caricature master Peter de Sève not appearing until 2001. EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION internally & externally. The number line ends with "2." For those who appreciate Twain, this is one of his amusing shorts; for those who are enthralled by Peter de Sève--illustrator extraodinaire of many New Yorker covers and creator of Scrat--this is a most agreeable interpretation.
