The First UK Printing published by Kegan Paul, Trench, Trubner & Co in 1936.The BOOK is in near FINE condition.Light push to the upper spine end and a small production crease at the lower spine end.The gilt titling remains bright.Very light offsetting in places to the end papers.Free from inscriptions and erasures. Maroon top-stain still present. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near FINE condition.Minor edge wear at the spine ends with a little loss. The spine is toned.Small closed tears at the spine and flap folds. Correctly priced at 12s. 6d.net to the lower front flap. The Miguel Covarrubias wrapper artwork looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. Wonderful B/W frontispiece and drawings through by Covarrubias who was a Mexican painter, caricaturist, illustrator, ethnologist and art historian. His style was highly influential in America, especially in the 1920s and 1930s, and his artwork and caricatures of influential politicians and artists were featured on the covers of 'The New Yorker' and 'Vanity Fair'. Zora Neale Hurston is considered one of the pre-eminent writers of twentieth-century African-American literature.Hurston was closely associated with the Harlem Renaissance and has influenced such writers as Ralph Ellison, Toni Morrison, Gayle Jones, Alice Walker, and Toni Cade Bambara. In 1975, Ms. Magazine published Alice Walker's essay, "In Search of Zora Neale Hurston" reviving interest in the author. Hurston's four novels and two books of folklore resulted from extensive anthropological research and have proven invaluable sources on the oral cultures of African America. The considerably scarcer edition than the US counterpart which precedes by one year.Ashtonrarebooks welcomes direct contact.

Description:
A Fine tight copy in a Fine bright unclipped dust jacket. Inscribed "To Chuck, Alan Shepard" on titlepage. On October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union launched Sputnik I, and the space race was born. Desperate to beat the Russians into space, NASA put together a crew of the nation's most daring test pilots: the seven men who were to lead America to the moon. The first into space was Alan Shepard; the last was Deke Slayton, whose irregular heartbeat kept him grounded until 1975. They spent the 1960s at the forefront of NASA's effort to conquer space, and Moon Shot is their inside account of what many call the twentieth century's greatest feat—landing humans on another world. Collaborating with NBC's veteran space reporter Jay Barbree, Shepard and Slayton narrate in gripping detail the story of America's space exploration from the time of Shepard's first flight until he and eleven others had walked on the moon.
