General George Kitching's Memoir begins with his childhood in China and British Columbia, follows his military education, and eight-year posting in Singapore, Malaya, and India with the British army. He was transfered to the Canadian armed forces and sent overseas with the first Canadian Division at the beginning of the Second World War. Kitching served in Sicily and North-East Europe - concluding the war in command of an armoured Division in Normandy.
