Boston: H. M. Caldwell Company. Good with no dust jacket. 1900. First Edition. Hardcover. Color Illustrations; 108 pages; Width: 9.25" Height: 11.75". Notes: bound in pictorial cloth covers. Book shows external wear, with loss of material at top/bottom of spine and at outside corners. Covers display rubbing and light soiling. Front hinge is cracked. Rear flyleaf has been excised. Endpapers have remnants of multiple small stickers. Belongs to "Sara Shan". Small stains can be seen at fore edge of frontispiece. Pages exhibit occasional marginal smudging. A small number of pages have closed tears at bottom edge. Work is illustrated throughout with outr'e color drawings of by the author in anthropomorphic and fantastical renderings. .

Boston: H M Caldwell, 1900 Pictorial paper over boards, moderate shelf wear, small loss to paper at base of spine, finger soil throughout and a few foxed spots. Bridgman was a clever and humorous fellow and here he brings us page after page of amusing rhymes and outlandish artwork in limited color featuring humanized animals. I like Jo An Reisler's characterization of Bridgman's artistic style; a cross between W W Denslow and L Leslie Brooke.
