Published in 1914, the same year as her famous Mother Goose, all are published by Good Housekeeping: Dodd Mead 1914. Each measures 5 1/4" wide x 3 1/2" high, color pictorial covers, a few have spine rubbing otherwise a VG or better set. Each cover is a different Mother Goose character, a reduced version of one of the color plates from the book. However due to the high quality of the paper used, the colors are particularly rich and they are also highlighted in gold. There are also black and white illustrations by Smith in-text. Verses inside are from Mother Goose. This is a lovely and rarely found complete set. Nudelman A40.

With gilt border and lettering. Rear cover printed with an advertisement for Colgate talcum powder. 10 booklets, 5 inches by 3 inches. 8 pp. each. . With 4 black-and-white illustrations in each booklet to accompany the rhymes. Some creasing to pages and wrappers and some toning throughout the set. Open tear at fore-edge of page 3 in the Little Miss Muffet booklet (with no text or images affected). Overall a very good, clean, and attractive set. The Jessie Willcox Smith Mother Goose was first published by Dodd, Mead and Company in 1914. There are no previous editions of these Toybooks, which were published in a set of twelve. New York: Good Housekeeping Magazine & Colgate, 1913. First edition thus. First edition thus. Glossy card wrappers. Offered here is a collection of nine of the original Mother Goose toybooks (of 12) issued by Colgate & Co. in 1913 as a promo for Smith's book containing the color illustrations appearing in these booklets. Each booklet has full color cover and same color advertisement for Colgate (also by Smith) on rear cover. Contents have eight pages of black and white line drawings by Smith also from the book. One title has slight offset on cover (i.e. not cut properly from press). In all a very good set. Scarce.
