Sweden 2002. Over a period of twenty years Cilla Jahn has been responsible for the artistic decoration of hundreds of different places around Stockholm. Originally she had a position as artistic adviser to one of the major housing companies and later she set up her own consultancy. This book describes meeting with some sixty of the artists that Jahn has worked with over the years in connection with new buildings or with major conversion schemes. She describes visits to studios and building sites and she tells us about the many vicissitudes encountered along the way. The artists span a wide range of styles, techniques and materials. Some of the projects are large and complex, requiring many years of work and involving numerous artists and then there are contrasting small-scale projects concentrating around a single artist. One gains an insight into the very different conditions under which artists can work.
