An unusually crisp, well-preserved copy of the 1860 1st edition of this selection of games by the great 19th century American chess player Paul Morphy. Clean, tight and Near Fine in its pebbled green cloth, with bright gilt-lettering along the spine and decorative blindstamping to the panels. Very light spotting at the rear panel and the bottom edge, tasteful former owner (Samuel Frisbee) bookplates to the pastedowns. Thick 12mo, 473 pgs., including annotated games (with accompanying chessboards) thruout.
