Printed for the Shakespeare Society, London, 1848. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Poor/No Dust Jacket. XIV, 128 pages, preface by editor and notes. Dark maroon coloured cloth covered boards with self embossed decoration to the front and rear book panels. On page XIV there is a facsimile from the original manuscript. This is a reprinting of John Redford's playing and some bits and pieces of his poetry. The play and the poetry has been reprinted in the original Tudor spelling. The backstrip is missing! Heavy bumping, rubbing and fraying of the took corners, where the underlying board is visible. Heavy wear and some bumping to the book edges. There is been a significant rubbing to the book panels and creasing to the top left-hand corner of the rear book panel. Browning and foxing to the text block edges, endpapers and to the internal text. The hinge has split between page XIV and page 1 with the underlying webbing visible. Despite the backstrip being missing, the text block itself is tight. Previous owners ex- libris plate to the front paste-down. The top paper edge between the title page and page following has not been cut. At the beginning of the book there is a page is dedicated to "The Shakespeare Society" and its aims, which is "... to print and distribute to the subscribers books illustrative of Shakespeare's and of the Literature of his time.".
