Russet cloth with gilt lettering and brown pictorial stamping. x, 465pp; vii, 449pp; vi, 452pp. Numerous illustrations. Fine/very good. Just the faintest bit of slipcase wear. Tight, handsome first of this edition, being a greatly expanded version of this publisher's 1968 "McGraw-Hill Modern Men of Science" 2-volume set. Hundreds of mostly one-page thumbnail biographies organized alphabetically, Volume 1 covering A-G, Volume 2 H-Q and Volume 3 R-Z. A superb trilogy, and NOT ex-library as are most sets.
