Tight, quite nice first edition of this Chicago journalist's Civil War writings. As James I. Robertson Jr. notes, "this collection of monographs gives an exceptionally revealing picture of the 1863 campaigns around Chattanooga." Green cloth boards lightly rubbed, with some fabric fraying at extremities, gilt decoration and titling remains bright, library number inked on spine. Library stickers inside front and back covers (rear sticker clumsily removed), and library stamps to title page. Pages age toned but generally clean with no foxing. Square and solidly bound. Taylor was a Chicago journalist who provides accounts of the Civil War events around Chattanooga. (cfm)
