Hutchinson & Co. ( Publishers ) Ltd, London, 1952. Reprint. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good/Poor. Map illustrated endpapers, both different, the front endpaper showing the border between the Papal States and Austria and a smaller map showing part the city of Ferrara, rear endpaper showing northern Italy in 1859. Green coloured cloth covered boards with gilt illustration embossed to the lower right-hand corner of the front panel and gilt titles to the backstrip. Blue coloured tint to the top textblock edge. Bumping and some rubbing to the backstrip and to the book corners. Some rubbing along either side of the backstrip and the text block shows a few handling marks and light age toning. Faint foxing to the first few in the last few pages of the text and light age toning of the internal text. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with black and red titles to the front panel and white coloured titles to the backstrip. Chipping in to the dustwrapper corners and backstrip edges. Rubbing and occasional small closed tear to the other dustwrapper edges. Rubbing and foxing to the panels and some brown stains are present to the rear dustwrapper panel. Browning and foxing to the verso of the dustwrapper. Black-and-white illustrations of author to the rear fold over panel. This book has been translated from the Italian by Frances Frenaye. A novel set on the cusp of the unification of Italy in the turbulent 19th century. This momentous occasion are seen through the lives of a miller and his family on the River Po. This English translation is two thirds of a trilogy. The original Italian title was " Il Mulino Del Po ". Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. (6), 7-590, (2) pages..
