From the Cookery Americana Series, this volume includes two cookbooks: Presbyterian Cook Book, compiled by the Ladies of the First Presbyterian Church in Dayton, Ohio (published 1875) and Capital City Cook Book, by the Woman's Guild of Grace Church in Madison, Wisconsin (published 1906). These reprinted books offer a glimpse of 19th and early 20th century Americana and the efforts of resourceful homemakers to adapt to new environments and lifestyles. From the verso of the title page: "Cookery Americana is a series of 27 books in 15 volumes that chronicle a fascinating aspect of American social life over a 150-year period, from the original colonies to the Great Plains and westward to the Pacific.
