Habana: Ejercito Rebelde, 1960 8vo, illustrated wraps featuring a grimacing guerrillero firing a weapon against a backdrop of the Caribbean. pp 166, color photographs of Fidel Castro and the author. Bayo was a Cuban-born poet and military leader who fought for the Loyalists on the the losing side of the Spanish Civil War. Following the war, he relocated to Mexico, and later became a mentor for and military trainer Fidel Castro and Che Guevara (whom he described as his best pupil). ÂPrevious owner's signature to title page, foxing throughout, light chipping and creasing to extremities, soiling to rear wrap. Contents solid. Scarce, 10 copies in library holdings.
