About This Item

London: Hurst And Blackett, 1901. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Inscribed as a Christmas 1901 gift on fep by Hans (Gadow). Pencil note also in his hand to title page attributing many of the photos to C B Waite of Mexico City. Begins with a moving account of the Galveston Disaster of 1900 and its aftermath, before moving on to an extensive investigation of Mexico, illustrated throughout with excellent photos. Excellently written, though language and to a certain extent attitudes (though still progressive) are naturally of another age. Large fold-out map to rear. Bar a little spotting to endpapers, all is clean and bright internally. Binding a little shaken and endpapers are splitting at hinges. Gilt-decorated red boards rater marked and bumped. 8vo. 472pp

About Dodman Books

Formerly Journobooks, my original speciality was books about journalism, journalists, newspapers and other media (hence the name) and I still have a good stock of hard-to-find books in that field. Over time I have added a wide and eclectic variety of other collectible volumes alongside a general secondhand stock. I am a collector as well as a seller so know all about the pitfalls of online buying as well as the joys. I will try to make your buying experience as easy and as pleasant as possible.
