Sampson Low, Marston, Low & Searle. London, Sampson Low, Marston, Low & Searle, 1873 [1872]. Hardback first edition and first impression, believed to be a 'deluxe' edition carrying bevelled edges to the boards. Original blue cloth with gold gilt. AEG. A near fine copy with bumping to the spine tips, a neat, but lengthy gift inscription dated 1872, some bubbling to the front pastedown and the rear hinge is weakening. Printer's sticker to rear pastedown as expected. All in all a very nice copy with bright boards and gilt. Three Englishmen, Three Russians and a local bushman take to the Kalahari to measure the arc of the meridian, but things take a turn for the worse when the British and the Russians declare war. . Near Fine. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1872.

SIGNED BY SANDY KOUFAX along with a personal inscription directly to the front endpaper. This rare: most Koufax books have a simple scrawled autograph at the top of the ffe whereas this book features a carefully written, rather beautiful (and legible) autograph. First printing in very good condition with clean text and handsome boards (bumped corners) but wear on the dust jacket (see photos). Still a much nicer dust jacket than most and looks quite appealing with a new mylar cover. Expedited and international shipping are welcome; signed by author.

Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Description:
New York: Random House, 1959. Book. Illus. by Sam March (dust jacket design). Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition.. Small octavo. Humes's second novel, following 'The Underground City,' both of which led to his being considered by Esquire magazine as having the same promise as two obscure guys named Updike and Styron (whoever they are). Anyway, he met a guy named Leary who introduced him to a little substance known as LSD, and after seriously indulging his fondness for the hallucinogen he became a trifle paranoid and a bit delusional, which pretty much ended his writing career. Humes was co-founder (with Peter Matthiessen and George Plimpton) of The Paris Review. He died of prostate cancer in 1992. Black cloth w/gilt lettering, 184 pages. Mildly cocked, light general wear, in price-clipped dust jacket w/light rubbing, light edgewear, creases to fore-edges of both flaps..
