Mendel Art Gallery and Civic Conservatory, Saskatoon, Canada, 1964. First Canadian Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Various. (printed on a blue coloured paper], 130 pages, foreword by Eva Miller. Black and white photograph of Frederick (Fred) Mendel, tipped in, the gallery's founder. The text is illustrated with 20 colour reproductions of artworks and 44 black and white reproductions of artwork. Navy blue coloured boards with gilt titles to the front panel. Bumping and rubbing to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and to the book corners. Some marking to the book covers. Browning and foxing to the text block edges. Browning and faint foxing to the endpapers. Previous owner's name to the top edge of the free front end paper. Illustrated dustwrapper, being a reproduction of Lyonel Feiningers' work "Harbour Bridge", with white background and black titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing and chipping to the top right-hand corner of the front dustwrapper and to the head and heel of the backstrip. The other edges of the dustwrapper are rubbed and creased. The white of the background has become dulled, yellow and shows quite significant handling marks. Rubbing to the creases of the dustwrapper and to the dustwrapper panels. A small book celebrating the opening of the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon Canada in 1964. The artwork for the book was selected by the gallery's owner Fred Mendel. Loosely inserted into the book is a card stating "with the compliments of Mr F. Mendel on the occasion of the opening of the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, October 16, 1964".
