About This Item
New York: Academy of Medicine, 1907. Paperback. Small 8vo. Stiff tan wrappers, gilt lettering. vii, 85pp. Very good overall. Outer wrappers (only) rather age toned, with yapped edges chipped as usual and a brown cloth tape spine, else a sound "Very good" internally. First edition of this collection of reminiscences about this groundbreaking New York physician, writer and suffragette (1842-1906), generally considered the leading female physician of her age; her husband was Abraham Jacobi (1830-1919), the pioneering pediatrician who founded the first children's clinic in the United States. Among the contributors are Sir William Osler, Felix Adler and Emily Blackwell. Front wrapper title: "In Memoriam Mary Putnam Jacobi." Scarce.
