Edinburgh: William Blackwood and Sons, 1854 viii, [2], 274pp, with the armorial frontis-piece with tissue-guard intact, and folding linen-backed Genealogical Table, bound in 3/4 maroon leather and red cloth, raised bands on spine, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt, binding and hinges tight. Small ownership label of A.B.W. MacEwen, the author and genealogist. INSCRIBED & SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR on the half-title page, with that persons signature on the title page, appears to be "G.H.F.Stuart, 1898". The linen-backed, folding Genealogical Table shows light foxing and a few closed tears, the book shows occasional light foxing, covers show occasional edge nick, with small stain.

good, book has been read, has wear on spine volume one, some tears on pages, rear flyleaf volume one has several small holes, includes picture of Locke. this set is part of the DNA of being an American. Thomas Jefferson owned the 1740 edition and used some of the ideas in the US constitution. This set was owned by Felix Cohen, who codified American Indian Law. Lcoke's ideas and Jefferson's use of them continue throught the work Of Felix Cohen.

Venezia (Venice): Carlo Pecora, 1744. Two volumes (3 & 4 of 6) bound as one. Large 4to. Early full vellum binding with a brown leather title patch; all edges gilt; marbled pastedown endpapers. Parallel texts in Italian and French for seventy-two fables, each illustrated with a beautiful full-page color etching by Fossati. Each etching is printed in one of various shades of red, orange, brown, green, blue and black. In addition to the 72 plates, there are engraved vignettes on the 4 title pages, a red engraved headpiece for volume 3, and an engraved tailpiece following the text for each of the fables. Fossati (1706-1778) was an Italian architect who also was a very good printmaker and book illustrator. For the fables he portrayed animals realistically and used his architectural training for accurate renderings of baroque buildings. Tor House, Carmel, California, 1939-1947. Includes two 2-page letters, six half- to full-page letters, and 12 postcards. All are entirely handwritten and quite legible. Nineteen are to Robert Gros; one is to a Mr. Getz. They cover a wide range of topics including social events, invitations to visit, acknowledgements for items received, travel plans, WWII concerns (for sons Garth and Donnan), family trips for Robinson's readings, the "new" play (MEDEA), and Una's own medical concerns. Robert R. Gros (1915-1997) was a corporate executive and government adviser on international affairs. He twice rode the military airlift supply operations into blockaded Berlin after World War II, served several U.S. presidents and was personally commended by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1956 for his services to the American Council on NATO. Altogether very good to near fine.
