Previous owner's inscription to front endpaper and pastedown. Newspaper clipping tipped to front endpaper. Text block edges heavily tanned. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Spine is noticeably sunned. Boards a little rubbed and marked overall. Price sticker to front. Book has a slight forward lean.

Folding map (showing extent of the Gault and Upper Greensand) bound in facing title page, another (Geological Map of the neighbourhood of Warminster) bound in at p 248, three other plates- all as and where called for, as well as many full-page illustrations of fossils. Original green cloth-covered boards, gilt titles to spine, gilt motif of Geological Survey of the United Kingdom to front board, blind-stamped decoration, 499 pages. Condition notes: Maps clean and bright, although with tear to first, about 6cm, close to fold of map, from edge of map inwards. Age-toning to pages, except for title page, which has been protected by the map but shows age-darkening to its margins. Externally: boards bumped, soiled and rubbed, small area of damage to cloth of spine strip with area of loss of cloth for about 1 cm by .5 cm at its widest. More photographs if requested.
