*** PUBLISHERS DUMMIES ***THE MEMOIRS OF CORDELL HULL, Macmillan, 1948, first edition, 2 volumes, spine of volume one faded, else near fine copies with volume 2 being in a worn tissue dust-wrapper. Both volumes are housed in somewhat worn publishers cardboard slipcase. These copies are publishers dummies with volume one printing only the first signature and volume two having totally blank signatures. Hull was FDR's Secretary of State for 12 years. Scarce thus.

Cordell Hull (1871-1955) was a member of Congress from 1907-1933. He served as Franklin Roosevelt's Secretary of State from 1933-1944. In his last months in office he paved the way for a system of collective security, for which he was called "father" of the United Nations.
