Text in French. Only one found in OCLC as of 1/2021. Humbert Rullière, also known as Laurent Casas, was a French anarchist and mineworker. In 1882 he was charged with attempted murder after firing several blanks at the foreman of the mine where he worked during a labor dispute. He fled to Spain, but was eventually arrested and sentenced to 8 years of hard labor in Guyana. Although he had been ordered to stay in Guyana, he left on an English ship and eventually moved to San Francisco in 1904. In 1911, he wrote this memoir addressed to the French government in order to convince them to reverse his order to stay in Guyana so that he could continue living in the United States.
