Hardcover. x, 123p., illustrated in the text with diagrams, photos, facsimiles, and a number of folding plates; hardbound in gilt-decorated semi-flexible boards with rounded corner-tips (just like a real engineer's manual!); all edges gilded. A poor to fair ex library copy blind-stamped USN (to titlepage and all plates), we see traces of bookplate removal from front endsheets, weak hinges, gaps in textblock gutters, and occasional food-flecks. We do not see any damage to plates nor any evidence of plates removed. A handleable if slightly repulsive "reading copy.
