Near fine/very good. Faint jacket edgewear. Later (3rd) printing, tight and handsome, of this uncommon collection of letters interspersed with narration. Unusual autograph addition: Tipped to inner flyleaf is a good content Typed Letter Signed from Turner, 1p, 8½" X 11", Los Angeles, CA, 3 September 1963. Addressed to Arnold Gates (1914-93, noted Lincoln/Civil War researcher). Near fine. On his personal letterhead, Turner chats about his latest research project: "I am working on a paper pertaining to several Quakers who were taken as hostages during the Civil War.... I am trying to obtain as much collateral material pertaining to the Quakers during the Civil War and their status in the Confederacy and the Union...." Signed as usual in full in his vibrant purple ink.
